MTA Bus Tracking

These files include shapefiles of bus routes and stops, and Google Earth KML files tracking vehicles in the Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority (MTA). The bus routes and stops were originally created by the Macon Bibb Planning and Zoning Commission and the Middle Georgia Regional Commission.

The MTA uses RouteMatch to track their vehicles with GPS. RouteMatch released this data in CSV format.

Code for America converted the CSV into these time-enabled KML files using these Python scripts. You can animate the buses' tracks in Google Earth and develop new applications. This data made it possible to create the bus timetable and up-to-date route map which appears on the MTA's website.

Select a day to see which vehicles are taking which routes. There is a weekday schedule and a Saturday schedule. No buses run on Sundays.
