Dryad is a repository of data underlying scientific publications, with an initial focus on evolution, ecology, and related fields. Dryad will allow future investigators to validate published findings, explore new analysis methodologies, repurpose the data for research questions unanticipated by the original authors, and perform synthetic studies such as formal meta-analyses.
The Dryad team is working with stakeholders from journals and scientific societies to develop data sharing policies and ensure the long-term sustainability of the repository.
According to the using data page data is in the public domain by default, with expectation that it is cited correctly:
All data deposited to Dryad must be released under the Creative Commons Zero license, which releases all legal restrictions on reuse of the data. Scientific norms dictate that you properly cite data that you reuse (see below).
There is some older data in Dryad which authors have released under an alternative license. For commercial uses of this content, please contact the corresponding author of each data file.
