Overall goals (might be beyond 1 sprint):

  • Good portion of visitors noticing our DataHub Open Data and Enterprise offerings.
    • New offerings are clearly defined on the landing page + a banner for open data.
    • We are having sales meetings with the prospects:
    • Open Data (per month):
      • Number of visits on the landing page: 10K+ users (I think we can replace home page)
      • Number of demo instance visits: 100 unique users
      • Number of scheduled calls with the team: 5 per month
      • Number of qualified leads: 4 by May 2023
      • Number of closed deals: 2 by May 2023
    • Enterprise:
      • number of visits on the landing page: todo
      • number of clicks on the demo button:
      • number of people filling in the form:
      • number of people watching the demo video:
      • number of people opening the email:
      • currently ~1-2 meetings per month
  • DataHub.io revamped
    • Improved search experience with filters (eg, serve it from Typesense).
    • Improved dataset/showcase page
    • Improved collection page ?
    • Improved publisher page ?
    • Track analytics to validate if everything is good, eg, is there more traffic over the next 2-3 months? Do we have drop in bounce rate? More returning users? etc.

Brainstorm

  • datahub.io serves two purposes
    • demo
      • => needs search fixed
    • what can we charge for on datahub.io? Ans: data publishing? no branding? data api?
      • data as a service
        • we need the restrict the free data in some way …

Immediate next steps

  • get traffic to open data offer (add to navbar or even on front page)

  • start tracking on offers page so we know how funnel is performing

  • do obvious SEO improvements e.g. site description can be better, main links can be clearer.

  • switch search from datahub-v2 to git-dms style

    • Question: do you actually use git-dms or gradually upgrade next.datahub.io towards git-dms frontend e.g. port the search part over
      • setup typesense and import data
        • import data into typesense (we can reuse the script for loading to elasticsearch that sagar found)
      • port over the code from git-dms to next.datahub.io @steveoni?
      • => shutdown elasticsearch @sagar
  • pricing page - replace / improve now

Later

  • revisit collections and blog regarding content marketing strategy
  • get a new DaaS offer
  • switch org page to git-dms => needs a bit of thought
