💡 5 Solutions and promoting them
We have 5 solutions:
- Dataset publishing
- Data story publishing
- Docs publishing - ? flowershow
- PKM publishing - currently flowershow
- Simple website
Create a landing page for each - can be own mini site, build with DataHub cloud.
So I think we want to have a solutions page for each of the major ways you can use DataHub. For example, you can use it to publish docs, you can use it to publish a personal knowledge management system, you can use it to publish a dataset and you can use it to publish a data story.
And then, even right now, we want to go and advertise that solution to the relevant audience if we can. There is a risk, of course, that we're spreading ourselves across several audiences but that's something maybe worth it to see what we get traction with the same tool. We can test even just building a very simple landing page for each of them and see if we can drive users to that place.
Pure data side
On the pure data side I think the most important thing is delivering some kind of value add for putting your data in. Obviously, what is already there is a nice dataset page (showcase). But is that enough? It's a question we don't know the answer to really yet for sure but there's a sense of maybe not.
We could take about a month or two and double down to get a really decent prototype where you drop a data file and hey presto you get a dataset page – Muhammad could work on some of that and we have a lot of the components already like an upload it R2 (you just need a permissions kind of engine of some kind which is what we're missing maybe at the moment but we built a lot of that before e.g. for GIFT).
The most obvious thing at the moment is just the basic information we have about data set and data previews that are automatically generated. Particularly cool if I can even link to remote data but even local data is pretty good.
Content
We have a whole backlog of content we can post on our blog we've got the portal JS material we've got old internal materials we've got the materials that we had in the DMS kind of notes and so on I guess there's also a question of how do we send out emails or get email subscribers maybe we just like integrate sub stack or something at the moment just to do that
