About this dataset
Postal Codes Dataset for United Arab Emirates (AE)
This dataset lists the postal codes of the United Arab Emirates with place names, WGS84 coordinates, administrative divisions and alternative city names.
Column definitions, row count, size and last-updated date are in datapackage.yaml.
Data Sources
- Postal codes, place names, administrative divisions and coordinates: © GeoNames, postal code export for the United Arab Emirates, CC BY 4.0.
- Alternative city names: the GeoNames gazetteer for the United Arab Emirates, same licence.
Changes made to the source data: place names and administrative division names cleaned (a parenthesised part is dropped, punctuation becomes a space and repeated spaces collapse), and an alternative city name added from the gazetteer where one matches the place name.
Not endorsed by, or affiliated with, GeoNames.
Known limitations
admin_name1is empty: the source provides only a code (admin_code1) for this administrative level.admin_name2is empty: the source provides only a code (admin_code2) for this administrative level.
Usage
The dataset files are available in CSV format and can be accessed and downloaded using
the links provided in datapackage.yaml.
postal_code includes a significant space (28119 95762) and can start with 0; it must be read as text (dtype=str), or use the schema in datapackage.yaml.
