About this dataset
Postal Codes Dataset for Angola (AO)
Angola has no postal code system. This dataset lists the municipalities across all provinces, per Lei n.º 14/24 (in force 2025-01-01) — an administrative-divisions-only dataset. postal_code is empty on every row; this is not an oversight.
Column definitions, row count, size and last-updated date are in datapackage.yaml.
Data Sources
- Province and municipality names: Lei n.º 14/24, de 5 de Setembro (Lei da Divisão Político-Administrativa), Angola's own administrative-division law, as published in the Diário da República (text). Angola's copyright law (Lei n.º 15/14, Article 24.º) excludes laws and administrative/judicial decisions from copyright protection, so this law carries no copyright claim in Angola, and neither do the facts extracted from it. No attribution or share-alike condition attaches.
Changes made to the source data: each province's municipalities were extracted from the law's composition articles; admin_code1 is the ISO 3166-2:AO code without the AO- prefix.
This dataset is distributed free, per this project's policy that any dataset with no postal codes ships free regardless of how permissive its underlying licence is.
Known limitations
- ISO 3166-2:AO codes are not yet assigned for some of the provinces created or split by Lei 14/24 (Icolo e Bengo, Cuando, Cubango, Moxico Leste), so
admin_code1is empty on those rows rather than invented. - A commune (sub-municipality) tier exists nationally but is not built into this release.

The dataset files are available in CSV format and can be accessed and downloaded using
the links provided in datapackage.yaml.
