About this dataset

Ethiopia Locality Directory (No Postal Code System), ET

Ethiopia has no deployed national postal code system – the 4-digit format that exists is trial-only, for Addis Ababa alone. This is a free locality directory – 11,113 places across 14 regions (12 with a current ISO 3166-2:ET code; 2 created in Ethiopia's 2023 administrative reform are not yet ISO-coded), coordinates included. postal_code is intentionally empty on every row.

Data Sources

Sourced from GeoNames' gazetteer (not the postal-code export, which does not exist for Ethiopia), licensed CC BY 4.0. See ATTRIBUTION.txt in the packaged data for the full disclosure.
