About this dataset
Postal Codes Dataset for Finland (FI)
This dataset contains Finnish postal codes — 3,784 rows across all 19 regions (maakunta, including Ahvenanmaa/Åland) and 308 municipalities (kunta).

Data Sources
Postal codes, region and municipality names are sourced from Posti (the Finnish postal operator)'s own daily Postal Code File. The seutukunta (sub-region) administrative tier and coordinates are backfilled from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0), which Posti's own file does not carry.
Licensing status — read before commercial use. Posti's terms of use contain no prohibition on commercial use or resale, but require that the terms of use and the data's download date accompany any redistribution. See ATTRIBUTION.txt for the full notice. licence_status.decision is compatible for both source components.
Coverage note. Includes all 19 regions including Ahvenanmaa/Åland. 13 of 308 municipality codes have no GeoNames counterpart, so admin_name2/admin_code2 (seutukunta) ship empty on those rows. Coordinates are only as complete as GeoNames' own postal-code coverage.
Usage
The dataset files are available in CSV format and can be accessed and downloaded using the links provided in the datapackage.yml.
postal_code and admin_code3 must be read as text (dtype=str) — a naive pd.read_csv() can otherwise mis-handle leading zeros.
