About this dataset
Postal Codes Dataset for Finland (FI)
This dataset lists Finnish postal codes across every region (maakunta, including Ahvenanmaa/Åland) and every municipality (kunta), with Finnish and Swedish place names and, where available, coordinates.
Column definitions, row count, size and last-updated date are in datapackage.yaml.

- Postal codes, place names, region and municipality names and codes: © Posti Oy (the Finnish postal operator), Postal Code File (PCF), published under the Posti Postal Code Services terms of use (version 2015-01-01).
- Seutukunta (sub-region) tier and coordinates: © GeoNames Finland postal code export, CC BY 4.0. Posti's own file does not carry these fields.
Changes made to the source data: place names converted from upper case to title case; Posti's Swedish name added as the alternative city name where it differs from the Finnish name; seutukunta tier joined from the GeoNames export by municipality code; coordinates joined from the GeoNames export by postal code; where a postal code and place name repeat, the first record is kept.

Licensing status: read before commercial use. Posti's terms of use contain no prohibition on commercial use or resale, but require that the terms of use and the data's download date accompany any redistribution. See ATTRIBUTION.txt for the full notice.
Known limitations
- Includes every region including Ahvenanmaa/Åland. A few municipality codes have no GeoNames counterpart, so
admin_name2/admin_code2(seutukunta) are empty on those rows. - Coordinates are only as complete as GeoNames' own postal-code coverage; codes GeoNames lacks have no coordinates.
Usage
The dataset files are available in CSV format and can be accessed and downloaded using
the links provided in datapackage.yaml. Read postal_code and admin_code3 as text, never as numbers
(for example dtype=str in pandas): Finnish codes can start with zero (00100).
