About this dataset
Postal Codes Dataset for Ireland (IE)
This dataset lists Irish Eircode routing keys across all provinces. This is the routing-key tier only (3-character prefix, e.g. "D02"); the full per-address Eircode database is licensed/commercial and out of scope.
Column definitions, row count, size and last-updated date are in datapackage.yaml.
Data Sources
- Routing keys, place names and provinces: © GeoNames postal code export for Ireland, CC BY 4.0. GeoNames itself limits Ireland to routing-key level "for copyright reasons", the same licensing boundary that makes the full per-address Eircode database (Eircode Ltd/Capita, paid licence) out of scope for this product.
Changes made to the source data: province letters (C, L, M, U) given as ISO 3166-2:IE codes; county and post-town columns emptied.
Not endorsed by, or affiliated with, GeoNames or Eircode.

Known limitations
- Only
country_code,postal_code,place_name,admin_name1andadmin_code1are populated. County and post-town data (admin_name2/admin_name3) are not available from any open source found. alternative_city_nameis empty.

The dataset files are available in CSV format and can be accessed and downloaded using
the links provided in datapackage.yaml.
