About this dataset
Postal Codes Dataset for Isle of Man (IM)
This dataset lists outcode-level postal codes (IM1 to IM9) of the Isle of Man with place names, coordinates and Manx Gaelic names where available.
Column definitions, row count, size and last-updated date are in datapackage.yaml.
Data Sources
- Postal codes, place names and coordinates: © GeoNames postal code export for the Isle of Man, CC BY 4.0.
- Manx Gaelic names (
alternative_city_name): the GeoNames gazetteer and alternate-names dumps for the Isle of Man, filtered to Manx Gaelic, same licence.
Changes made to the source data: values copied as supplied, with the country name copied into the second administrative tier emptied; Manx Gaelic names added as the alternative city name by matching place name to the gazetteer.
Not endorsed by, or affiliated with, GeoNames.
Known limitations
- Outcode level only (IM1 to IM9): full postcodes are not covered.
- The administrative columns are empty: the source leaves them empty and the Isle of Man has no ISO 3166-2 subdivisions.
- A place name can appear under more than one outcode, so
place_namealone is not a key.
Usage
The dataset files are available in CSV format and can be accessed and downloaded using
the links provided in datapackage.yaml.
