About this dataset
Postal Codes Dataset for India (IN)
This dataset contains Indian PIN codes – 157,087 rows, all 36 states/union territories including Ladakh, 732 districts – sourced from the official All India Pincode Directory (Department of Posts / data.gov.in), not GeoNames, whose equivalent export is missing Ladakh.

Data Sources
Sourced from the All India Pincode Directory (Department of Posts, Government of India), licensed GODL-India.
Licensing status. Cleared to sell – licence_status.decision: compatible. See ATTRIBUTION.txt for the full attribution notice.
Coverage note. Primary key is (postal_code, place_name, admin_name2). A meaningful share of rows have blank coordinates (the source held a placeholder value) – see ATTRIBUTION.txt.
Usage
The dataset files are available in CSV format and can be accessed and downloaded using the links provided in the datapackage.yml.
postal_code should be read as text (dtype=str).
