About this dataset
Postal Codes Dataset for Réunion (RE)
This dataset lists the postal codes of Réunion with place names, WGS84 coordinates, administrative divisions and alternative city names.
Column definitions, row count, size and last-updated date are in datapackage.yaml.
Data Sources
- Postal codes, place names, administrative divisions and coordinates: © GeoNames, postal code export for Réunion, CC BY 4.0.
- Alternative city names: the GeoNames gazetteer for Réunion, same licence.
Changes made to the source data: place names and administrative division names cleaned (a parenthesised part is dropped, punctuation becomes a space and repeated spaces collapse), and an alternative city name added from the gazetteer where one matches the place name.
Not endorsed by, or affiliated with, GeoNames.
Known limitations
- Administrative divisions: all three levels are provided by the source, but the second and third levels are blank for a few postal codes.
Usage
The dataset files are available in CSV format and can be accessed and downloaded using
the links provided in datapackage.yaml.
postal_code can start with 0 and must be read as text (dtype=str), or use the schema in datapackage.yaml.
