About this dataset
Postal Codes Dataset for Sweden (SE)
This dataset contains Swedish postal codes, one row per postal code, covering all län (counties) and all kommuner (municipalities).
Column definitions, row count, size and last-updated date are in datapackage.yaml.
Granularity note: Sweden's postal codes are effectively unit-level — each distinct
code maps to exactly one row. postal_code is a 5-digit code shown
in the official NNN NN display format (the space is part of the value).
Administrative coverage: every row carries both län and kommun; there are no
gaps. The source supplies kommun directly for most rows. Where it left one blank, the
value was filled from evidence already in the dataset — the same postal town's other
rows, the administrative reference, or an unambiguous postal-code prefix — or from a
documented corrections table, never guessed. admin_code2 (a kommun code) is left
blank rather than fabricated: Sweden has no official municipality-level ISO code.
Coordinate accuracy: every row carries accuracy AREA — the coordinate is a
postal-code centroid, not a building- or street-level point.

- Postal codes, postal towns, coordinates and most kommun names: © GeoNames postal code data for Sweden (obtained via postalcodes.info, a GeoNames re-export), CC BY 4.0.
- County and municipality reference: Wikipedia's "Counties of Sweden" and "List of municipalities of Sweden" (en.wikipedia.org), used for county and municipality names and for which county each municipality belongs to. Only these facts were taken; no Wikipedia text is reproduced.

Changes made to the source data: where the source left the kommun blank, it was filled
from evidence already in the dataset or from a documented corrections table; län codes are
the ISO 3166-2:SE codes with the SE- prefix stripped.
Usage
The dataset files are available in CSV format and can be accessed and downloaded using
the links provided in datapackage.yaml.
postal_code includes a significant space (145 00) and must be read as text
(dtype=str), or use the schema in datapackage.yaml.
