About this dataset
Zimbabwe Locality Directory (No Postal Code System), ZW
Zimbabwe has no operational postal code system. This is a free locality directory – populated places across every province, coordinates included. postal_code is intentionally empty on every row; this is a structural fact about the country, not a data gap.
Column definitions, row count, size and last-updated date are in datapackage.yaml.

- Localities and coordinates: © GeoNames, main gazetteer dump for Zimbabwe (populated places; the postal-code export does not exist for Zimbabwe),
CC BY 4.0. See
ATTRIBUTION.txtin the packaged data. - Province labels: the GeoNames admin1 codes table, same licence.
Changes made to the source data: populated places only (feature class P); admin_name1 and admin_code1 set to the ISO 3166-2:ZW province name and code through a crosswalk (GeoNames' " Province" suffix dropped, for example "Midlands Province" becomes "Midlands").
Not endorsed by, or affiliated with, GeoNames.
This dataset is free, not a premium product.
Known limitations
- Rows on GeoNames' reserved region code "00" (no specific region) have a blank
admin_name1andadmin_code1rather than a guessed province. accuracy,alternative_city_nameand administrative tiers 2 and 3 are empty.

The dataset files are available in CSV format and can be accessed and downloaded using
the links provided in datapackage.yaml.
