Chess Multiverse Error & Evaluation Dataset (CMEED)

Our Pledge

We as contributors, maintainers, and community members pledge to foster an open, welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone participating in the Chess Multiverse Error & Evaluation Dataset (CMEED) project.

We are committed to creating a community where individuals can collaborate, share ideas, report issues, and contribute to research without harassment, discrimination, or hostility.


Our Standards

Examples of behavior that contribute to a positive environment include:

  • Being respectful and professional in discussions.
  • Providing constructive feedback and criticism.
  • Supporting open scientific research and reproducibility.
  • Respecting differing viewpoints and experiences.
  • Using welcoming and inclusive language.
  • Reporting issues responsibly and accurately.
  • Citing sources and contributions appropriately.

Examples of unacceptable behavior include:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or personal attacks.
  • Discriminatory comments related to race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, age, disability, or other personal characteristics.
  • Trolling, insulting, or deliberately disruptive behavior.
  • Publishing private information without consent.
  • Plagiarism or misrepresentation of research findings.
  • Knowingly submitting false, manipulated, or malicious data.

Research Integrity

CMEED is intended to support open research and educational use.

Contributors are encouraged to:

  • Maintain transparency in methodology.
  • Clearly document data processing procedures.
  • Report errors, inconsistencies, or limitations.
  • Respect licensing requirements and attribution standards.

Any attempt to intentionally manipulate, falsify, or misrepresent dataset contents may result in removal of contributions and restriction from future participation.


Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to:

  • GitHub Issues
  • Pull Requests
  • Discussions
  • Documentation contributions
  • Research collaborations related to CMEED
  • Other public spaces where the project is represented

Reporting Issues

If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, please report it through:

  • GitHub Issues (for project-related concerns)
  • GitHub Discussions
  • Direct contact with the project maintainer

All reports will be reviewed fairly and in good faith.


Enforcement

Project maintainers are responsible for clarifying and enforcing community standards.

Maintainers may take appropriate actions including:

  • Warning contributors
  • Editing or removing inappropriate content
  • Restricting participation
  • Temporarily or permanently banning contributors from project spaces

Enforcement decisions will be made with the goal of maintaining a respectful and productive research environment.


Attribution

This Code of Conduct is inspired by widely adopted open-source community standards, including the Contributor Covenant, and has been adapted for the Chess Multiverse research ecosystem.
