Project Drawdown Climate Solutions
Ranked table of ~150 climate solutions analysed by Project Drawdown, a leading research organisation that identifies and models the most effective ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Data
The dataset contains 156 solutions across sectors including Electricity, Transportation, Buildings & Industry, and Food, Agriculture, Land & Ocean (FALO). Each solution is classified and, where data is available, includes:
- GHG Impact — estimated reduction in Gt CO₂-equivalent per year over a 100-year horizon
- Cost — net cost in USD per tonne of CO₂-equivalent (negative = net savings)
- Mode — whether the solution cuts emissions, removes carbon, or both
- Speed of Action — Emergency Brake, Gradual, or Delayed
Classifications
| Classification | Count |
|---|---|
| Highly Recommended | 101 |
| Keep Watching | 28 |
| Worthwhile | 15 |
| Not Recommended | 12 |
Top Solutions by GHG Impact (Gt CO₂-eq/yr)
